Eden Park Academy is looking to appoint a highly organised Clerk, part-time, to support the school’s School Community Board with local governance.
The School Community Board (SCB) is a Committee of the Board of Trustees. The work of the SCB focuses on working with the Head Teacher to ensure that the Trust and school ethos is lived out in the school on a day-to-day basis. SCBs act on local views and issues – views of parents, the community and staff.
Job purpose and responsibilities:
To provide advice and support to the SCB and its individual Representatives on governance, constitutional and procedural matters, ensuring the body meets its statutory requirements.
To provide administrative support to the School Community Board, and individual Representatives, to facilitate effective and efficient meetings and strategic governance. This includes agenda planning and meeting minutes.
To ensure a strong evidence base is provided for Ofsted/audit/Trustees through an accurate record of School Community Board challenge, actions and decisions via concise and accurate meeting minutes.
To manage information effectively and in accordance with legal requirements, observing confidentiality where necessary.
You will have general administration experience such as minute taking and meeting organisation and be able to demonstrate a diplomatic approach to communication. You will be required to undertake initial induction training on governance within a Multi Academy Trust and attend a termly training session for Chairs and Clerks at the Trust offices/online.
School Community Board meetings take place at the school in the evenings (6.30pm – 8.00pm). SCBs usually meet once every half term, though some may choose to meet more often if it is felt necessary.
For further details of duties, hours and pay grade, please see the attached job description.
Eden Park Academy also invites the Clerk (where they are not the School Business Manager) to clerk first committee panels, such as pupil discipline. This role is required on an as and when basis under a separate job description, grade and allocation. Please advise the school if you are also interested in this additional aspect.
